World of Tolrendor

Among the countless worlds catalogued within the Archives of the Nexus, Tolrendor is distinguished by a singular phenomenon: the presence of Ember-stone, a family of arcane minerals unknown elsewhere in the Multiverse.

According to the oldest records, Ember-stone was born during the Dawn Wars and transformed at the Sundering, when the world was severed from the greater forces of Creation and Chaos. The resulting mineral occurs in many forms—firestone beneath the shattered halls of Karagthal, froststone beneath the glaciers of Norðrlǫnd, and rarer arcane alloys such as amber-iron and orichalcum. Scholars of the Nexus believe these deposits form a hidden lattice throughout the world, strengthening the Veil that separates Tolrendor from the realms beyond.

The history of Tolrendor has been shaped by the pursuit of this substance. Empires have risen upon its power and fallen through its corruption. Great wonders have been wrought through its use, while planar breaches, wars, and calamities have followed in its wake.

The world presently endures a diminished age. Ancient realms lie broken, and the ruins of forgotten civilisations conceal both lost knowledge and rich Ember-stone veins. Yet centres of power remain: Kerabos, City of Amber and seat of the Order of the Amber Pentacle; Reinbergen, last great refuge of the exiled Dragonborn of Varandia; and Mirranor, radiant domain of the Sea-Lord and the elder fey.

Adventurers upon Tolrendor are most often drawn into the struggle for Ember-stone itself—whether as agents of the Amber Pentacle, enemies of the Dark Amber Conclave, seekers of lost relics, or explorers delving into the remnants of ages long passed. In every age, the fate of Tolrendor has turned upon those who uncover the secrets buried beneath its stone.
